Standard Greenhouse Features
Our greenhouses vary in age, leading to differences in components and features. However, all greenhouses guarantee the following items:
- Provide benchtop or floor space
- Climate control
- Protect plants and equipment from outdoor weather
- Multiple water and electrical access points
- Restrict access for non-greenhouse users
All compartment features are regularly inspected and serviced by PGF personnel and are presented to each program in a safe and working order.
How User Fees Work
When reserving space at the Plant Growth Facilities (PGF), user fees are billed to your program. Currently, these fees apply only to greenhouse spaces.
Purpose
User fees allow PGF to enhance each program it serves by being used primarily in these areas:
- Handling urgent health and safety risks
- Facility repairs and maintenance
- Pest management and specialized plant care
- Upgrading the facilities and equipment

Policies
- If a user is displaced due to maintenance or repairs, they will be assigned temporary bench space in another greenhouse compartment. Fees will apply to the temporary space, not the original. PGF staff and equipment will assist with the transition.
- Usage is recorded by week, not by day. Week numbers start from January 1, with 4 weeks equaling 1 month.
Invoicing and Payment
Fee accrual invoices will be sent by the CAES Business office on the following schedule:
- July – Sept: Mid-September
- Oct – Dec: Mid-December
- Jan – Mar: Mid-March
- Apr – Jun: Early June, before fiscal year ends
For the other payment options, including pre-payment, frequent invoicing, or deferred payment (up to 6 months past the invoice date), please contact the PGF Superintendent. The CAES Business office will manage the fund transfers.
